‘Rudderless’ Eriksson says he is a gypsy and has been a gypsy for many years
February 15th, 2010 - 3:08 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb 15 (ANI): Former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson wants an immediate return to football after his nightmare at Notts County, and said he ready to work anywhere like a gypsy.
Eriksson left the League Two side on Thursday, ending a roller coaster spell at Meadow Lane.
The Swede desperately tried to find new investment for County when the mysterious Munto Finance pulled out of the club. It was eventually sold to former Lincoln chairman Ray Trew this week and Eriksson is now looking for a new challenge.
Eriksson is unsure where in the world it will be but he has been linked with leading Nigeria and North Korea at the World Cup this summer.
Eriksson said: “I’m a gypsy and I’ve been a gypsy for many years. It doesn’t matter where I live as long as it’s a good football project,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.
Asked if he had received any approaches regarding English jobs, Eriksson said: “Yes, one. But it’s agents and it’s really nothing before you have spoken to a club or an association in a country and put your name on a piece of paper.”
“I will not rule out anything at this moment. Agents have already started to phone me with a lot of different jobs. But I prefer to wait until I have a real offer from a club chairman or chairman of a country. Before that it’s only rumours,” he said.
Eriksson doubts whether County will ever achieve the ambitions expressed by Munto Finance, who had targeted a place in the Premier League.
“They made it very clear it’s not going to be a project to try to take Notts County to the Premier League, maybe not even to the Championship,” he said. (ANI)
