Rs.3.90 cr for Aligarh university hocky-turf (Lead)
October 13th, 2010 - 9:02 pm ICT by IANSAligarh, Oct 13 (IANS) The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has sanctioned Rs.3.90 crore for laying an astro-turf at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), a university official said Wednesday. The turf is expected to be in place within a year.
“The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) experts will undertake the exercise of laying the astro-turf. It will revive the game in the university,” AMU spokesperson Rahat Abrar said here.
The AMU officials said that the astro-turf was one of the long pending demands of the university’s games committee and with the grant, the AMU will become the centre of hockey activities in the state.
