Rooney is gunning for Chelsea: Hernandez
April 6th, 2011 - 4:23 pm ICT by ANILondon, Apr 6 (ANI): Striker Javier Hernandez has warned Chelsea that Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney is gunning for them.
The Mexican striker said Rooney has set his eyes on a Champions League goal at Stamford Bridge to follow Saturday’s hat-trick at West Ham, where his celebrations landed him in hot water with FA chiefs.
Hernandez, 17 goals in his debut season for Manchester United, is determined to add to his own tally in tonight’s first leg of this eagerly-awaited quarter-final, The Sun reports.
“Wayne is in sensational form and this is an extra problem for Chelsea. He really wants to score in the London leg and he is super motivated for this one,” he said.
“The manager wants us to create a lot of chances in the away leg and make sure we score so we can tackle the return leg with more options. The side with the best set of forwards will reach the semi-finals. Chelsea has an excellent attack, but our forwards are better.
“That defeat by Chelsea in the league wasn’t just. Our win over West Ham has improved our morale - it means we are much better placed to win the League,” Hernandez said.
“Mentally we are very calm about facing Chelsea in Europe. We want to strike a blow at Stamford Bridge. That would be magnificent,” he added. (ANI)
