Rooney is a quiz ace
November 24th, 2007 - 6:26 pm ICT by adminLondon, Nov.24 (ANI): England striker Wayne Rooney is also very good at quizzing.
This was revealed yesterday, reports The Sun.
Rooney, who is getting private tuition to study for GCSEs has a vast knowledge of TV shows including The Sopranos and Coronation Street.
And the 22-year-old scores well in music rounds notching up points on everything from the rap of 50 Cent to songs from the musical Oliver. Defender John O’Shea said: “Wayne always does pretty well for us.
“He’s a bit like Nicky Butt used to be Butty would come out with some great guesses. The quizzes are normally pretty close.”
The amazing quiz-night revelations are in new book Behind The Scenes at Manchester United written by two of United’s staff.
The players take on manager Sir Alex Ferguson and his backroom staff to relax before big matches. But they are so competitive the general knowledge bouts often end in food fights if they lose.
First-team coach Mike Phelan identified wing wizard Ryan Giggs as the one to watch on the players’ quiz team. He said: “Giggsy’s pretty sharp, but all the players are actually very good.
“Things can become very competitive and the quiz can last anything from an hour to three hours, it just depends on who’s winning!”
Meanwhile, England’s Euro defeat means Rooney will have his feet up next summer allowing fiancee Coleen McLoughlin, 22, to finally make firm wedding plans.
The Sun revealed last month how she set her heart on a lavish ceremony at a 16th century Italian castle. And she is believed to have already spent 20,000 pounds on a dress. (ANI)
