Rooney has banished his mental demons: Capello
February 4th, 2011 - 2:54 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb.4 (ANI): England football team coach Fabio Capello believes Wayne Rooney has banished his mental demons and is ready to rediscover his swagger with the national squad.
The Daily Express quoted Capello, as saying: “Rooney is a fantastic player. I have to speak with him, but the movement and passing is now good. And his head is now OK.”
He was speaking after Rooney had scored his first goals from open play at Old Trafford in 11 months with a double in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday.
He had well-documented off-field problems at the start of the season but believes he is edging back towards his best form.
He missed England’s defeat against France in November but will be in Capello’s squad on Sunday for Wednesday’s friendly with Denmark in Copenhagen. (ANI)
