London, May 31(ANI): Football World Cup shirts of England striker Wayne Rooney and midfielder Steven Gerrard are outselling those featuring Argentina superstar Lionel Messi and Portugal captain Christiano Ronaldo.
Just 12 days before the World Cup kicks off in South Africa, sales data from football shirt firm Kitbag.com showed that home and away kits with Rooney and Gerrard are the best sellers.
The data also found that many of the Argentina shirts, topped by Messi, are being sent to fans in Scotland.
Messi shirts have sold twice as many as those with Ivory Coast’s Didier Drogba, three times as many as Brazil’s Kaka and England’s Frank Lampard, and seven times as many as France’s Thierry Henry.
“We’ve seen a big rise in demand from Scotland for US and Argentina shirts,” The Sun quoted Ray Evans, Kitbag.com boss, as saying.
Shirts for teams including Australia, Portugal, Ivory Coast and Holland are also flying off the shelves. (ANI)
