Rooney fit to face Germany
June 25th, 2010 - 5:26 pm ICT by ANIPort Elizabeth, Jun 25 (ANI): England striker Wayne Rooney, who suffered an ankle injury in his team’s 1-0 victory over Slovenia, will be fit to face Germany on Sunday, dispelling fears of a depleted Three Lions strike force against their arch rivals
Coach Fabio Capello substituted Rooney in the 72nd minute, and said after the match that he took the star striker off because he had suffered an ankle injury.
Team officials on Thursday described the injury as minor, and said that Rooney had trained with the rest of the squad, Sports24 reports.
Rooney suffered ligament damage to his ankle in March, and was pronounced fit to play in the World Cup, but has not managed to replicate his Manchester United form. (ANI)
