August 26th, 2010 - 5:58 pm ICT by ANILondon, Aug 26 (ANI): Ace striker Wayne Rooney has vowed to play in 2018 World Cup while backing England’s bid to host the mega event.
Rooney took a FIFA inspection team around Old Trafford.
“We would be fantastic hosts. I’m hoping I’ll still be at the top of my game in 2018 and would love to play World Cup football in front of a home crowd,” The Sun quoted Rooney, as saying.
The six-man FIFA delegation also visited Sunderland, Newcastle and Manchester City stadiums as part of their inspection.
Former Ireland international Niall Quinn, 43, showed the group around Sunderland’s Stadium of Light. (ANI)
