Ronnie HillmanDec 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Even after the numerous slipping and sliding last night the San Diego State players finally had smiles all over their faces. The result was worth it after they emerged victorious over the Navy Midshipmen with a score of 35-14. Despite the condition of the field being so slippery due to the rainfall, the San Diego State boys had the final word at the Poinsettia Bowl on Thursday night.

Spectators who were present last night at the Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego witnessed how much difficulty the players had in playing the match since the field was completely wet. Through out the entire match players fell down several times. In spite of all this the San Diego players did not give up. Instead they were seen giving their best shot on the field, ultimately clutching the bowl victory almost after a period of forty years. The last time the boys had done it was way back in 1969. This time the credit for the success no doubt goes to the freshman Ronnie Hillman. Last night he went on to score four touchdowns, leading his team to victory for the first time in so many years. It has resulted in his best career shot. After last night Ronnie Hillman broke the previous bowl record of 129 yards surpassing the one of Navy’s Adam Ballard in 2005.

Ronnie Hillman scored the runs on 22, 37, 2 and then again added a 15 yard scoring pass from Ryan Lindley. As to whether the game would take place last night or not had become a big question especially after weather conditions had taken a bad toll. Organizers had to pump out 1.5 million gallons of rain water out of the field, ultimately managing to stand to their words of conducting the game at the scheduled time.
