Rome, Jan 5 (DPA) Roma are looking to sign on-loan Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni on a permanent basis, the Serie A side’s sporting director Daniele Prade confirmed Tuesday.
“I hope that soon we can negotiate a permanent deal for Luca Toni,” Prade said at a football conference in Dubai.
Toni joined Roma last week until the end of the season after failing to hold down a first-team place under Bayern’s Dutch coach Louis van Gaal, a situation that led the striker to fear for his place in the Italy squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The 32-year-old, who has signed a contract worth $4.4 million plus possible bonuses linked to his performance, was presented to the Roma fans Saturday.
