RIP Captain Lou Albano Mount Vernon, Oct 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Legendary pro wrestling coach and colorful manager Captain Lou Albano died at age 76. According to the Miami Herald, his family says that he was at home under hospice care before his death. It is not clear that, Captain Lou Albano died of what medical complications. He had suffered a heart attack in 2005, and since then he health had deteriorated. Contrary to popular misconception he was not suffering from cancer, which was announced on his website.

Captain Lou Albano, made memorable cameos in several Cyndi Lauper videos, died on Wednesday at his home in Mount Vernon, New York.

Albano’s real name was Louis Vincent Albano, and he began his career as a wrestler. Later he found his niche as an focused manager and a challenging coach to several WWF (since renamed WWE) tag team champions, including the Masked Executioners and the Wild Samoans.

He retired in 1995 and in 1996, was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame.

In the 1980s, Captain Lou Albano appeared in the singer Lauper ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun,’ ‘She Bop’ and ‘Time After Time’ videos. He also appeared in guest roles in the movies ‘Miami Vice,’ ‘227′ and the 1987 wrestling movie, ‘Body Slam.’

In the year 2008 he released his autobiography, “Often Imitated, Never Duplicated” with a smashing foreword that was written by Cyndi Lauper.
