Riots Strikes Los Angeles After NBA Game

54401653Los Angeles, June 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Even though a large police force was present outside the stadium where the NBA match between Boston Celtics and LA Lakers was being played, they could not stop riot after the result of the game was out. Instances of violence and rioting were reported in several places just after the Lakers beat their opponent.

The angry mob clashed with the cops of LAPD and they also threw bottles, cans and other stuffs at them when they tried to disperse the crowd forcefully. The crowd also set fire to some cars and a cab while also breaking the marquees. To bring the situation under control, the cops had to resort to firing non lethal shots. In the ruckus one person got beaten due to which he is said to have become senseless.

Three persons were injured the riot as per the latest updates but no one lost their lives. The firemen were called to douse the flames in several areas set by the crowd. When the game was over, LAPD announced an illegal assembly outside the venue.

To keep the agitated mob in check, several police patrol cars reached the place with cops bring avoid any other untoward incident. It has been reported that around 12 people got arrested for acts like vandalism, damaging properties and public drunkenness. The cops arrested another person when he tried to assault one of the cops.

In 2000, the LAPD received brickbats for its failure to control the mobs after Lakers victory. However, this time the cops were able to manage the crowd and bring the situation under control.

The mob outside also resorted to vandalism in the nearby restaurants.
