Rickey Jackson Earns Pro Football Hall Of Fame

ricketFort Lauderdale, Fla., Feb 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former New Orleans Saints player Rickey Jackson has been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday. The much acclaimed linebacker who played for the New Orleans Saints for the major part of his career turned out to be the first Saints’ player to earn a place in the Canton, Ohio, shrine for his stupendous career as one of the best linebacker’s of the era.

The 51 year old former New Orleans Saints player was one of the seven players who were elected in the annual meeting by the 44-member Board of Selectors. The player would be inducted in a special ceremony that is scheduled to take place in the first full weekend of August. While reacting to the induction, the much acclaimed player added that he was extremely elated to have received the honor. At the same time, Rickey Jackson also acknowledged the fact that the honor is bestowed upon the best players of the game all across the world.

Rickey Jackson is known for his glittering career with the New Orleans Saints for a period of 13 years. He later joined the San Francisco 49ers and earned a championship ring for the team in Super Bowl XXIX just a year before announcing his retirement. When the player retired from the game, he could boast of 128 quarterback sacks and 1173 tackles. Rickey Jackson still holds the third position in NFL history with 28 fumble recoveries.

Meanwhile, the other players who have been inducted in the Class of 2010 includes Dick LeBeau, John Randle, Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Floyd Little and Russ Grimm.
