Chennai, India, March 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rendezvous Sports World Ltd has won the bid for one of the two IPL teams. The two new IPL teams to be introduced in the IPL league from the next season are team Kochi and team Pune. On Sunday, the two teams were auctioned in Chennai, India, where company officials gathered to bid for the teams. Apart from the Rendezvous Sports World Ltd, the other companies present at the auction were Adani Groups and Videocon, along with Sahara Adventure Sports. The Pune team was won by the greatest bidder in the hall, Sahara Adventure Sports. The names for the teams have not been decided still.

The Sahara Adventure Sports got the ownership of the Pune team by bidding $370 million, the Kochi team went to the Rendezvous Sports World Ltd after a bid of $333.33 made by the company. According to reports, both the companies are required to pay 10 percent of the total amount in the next 48 hours. The director of the Rendezvous Sports World Ltd, Pooja Gulati seemed happy after the bid and said that the new team will prove the notion wrong that people of Kerala take less interest in cricket. She said that though the state is not known for its participation in cricket much, the sports has gained popularity all over India and will help the Kochi team to grow.

Lalit Modi, the chairman and the commissioner of the Indian Premier League has reportedly said that the inclusion of the two new team in the next season of the IPL will increase the total number of games to 94. However, until the stadium in Kochi [which is under construction] is ready, games will be held at the venues selected by the IPL.
