Reigning F1 champ Vettel won’t run away with title: Damon Hill
April 7th, 2011 - 6:15 pm ICT by ANILondon, Apr 7(ANI): Former Formula One champion Damon Hill reckons reigning champion Sebastian Vettel won’t be able to run away with a second crown.
Vettel had made a flying start to the 2011 season in Australia two weeks ago, when he scored a comfortable victory ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton.
He also took pole position in Melbourne with a lap almost eight-tenths of a second quicker than second-best qualifier Hamilton.
However, Hill believes that his competitors will be able to close the gap at this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix.
“The first race is usually just a marker. People will catch up and it definitely won’t be plain sailing for Red Bull all the way through the season,” the Sun quoted Hill, as saying.
“I’m sure the gap will close and it will be more like last season with a handful of guys in the frame well beyond the halfway stage,” he added.
Red Bull’s advantage could be even greater in Malaysia if they use the KERS power boost they failed to deploy at the season-opener. (ANI)
