Real Madrid veteran Van Nistelrooy out for six weeks
September 21st, 2009 - 7:49 pm ICT by IANSMadrid, Sep 21 (DPA) Spanish league leaders Real Madrid announced Monday that veteran striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy will be out of action for around six weeks with another injury.
Medical tests have revealed that Van Nistelrooy tore the quadriceps muscle in his left leg whilst scoring the final goal in Real’s 5-0 slaughter of Xerez Sunday.
He will not return to action until November.
Van Nistelrooy, 33, had just reappeared after being out for 11 months with torn ligaments in his right knee.
The defeat of Xerez keeps intact Real’s hundred per cent record and leaves them top of La Liga, on goal difference above Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao.
