January 12th, 2012 - 7:35 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Madrid, Jan 12 (IANS) Real Madrid look to reach the halfway point of the Spanish football season this Saturday night by extending their lead at the top of the Spanish Primera Liga.
Jose Mourinho’s side travel to play Mallorca, while Barcelona wait until Sunday night when they entertain Betis.
Madrid take a five point lead to Mallorca thanks to their 5-1 win at home to Granada last weekend. They also qualified for the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey Tuesday following a 1-0 win in Malaga.
Wednesday saw Sami Khedira damage his ankle and the German will miss Saturday’s game, while Angel de Maria is still a doubt. Javier Callejon and Mesut Ozil have chances of starting.
Mallorca meanwhile are euphoric after their 6-1 triumph over Real Sociedad in the Copa and Joaquin Caparros’ side will be difficult to beat as they will look to sit back and soak up pressure.
