Real Madrid chiefs in rift over Ronaldo transfer deal

London, July 31 (ANI): A major rift is brewing at the Spanish club Real Madrid over the Ronaldo transfer fiasco.
Club boss Bernd Schuster has criticised club president Ramon Calderon for keeping him in the dark on the Ronaldo deal.
Im already used to being more or less the last to find out how things are going. The whole world finds out, except someone like me who is more important, The Sun quoted a fuming Schuster, as saying. Its no good. Id like to know more, he added.
Directors of Real Madrid want the club to end their pursuit of Ronaldo.
Fed-up board members told president Ramon Calderon on Monday that they couldnt risk missing out on signing other players while waiting for the Manchester United winger.
The Spanish giants have already set the wheels in motion to get Hamburgs Rafael van der Vaart instead.
Some directors also openly disagreed with paying a world-record 80million pounds fee for the Portuguese ace.
Calderon will now also try to land Valencia idol David Villa, who will cost around 30million pounds.
Yet he still hopes that Ronaldo will try to force his way out of Old Trafford when the player returns next week for a showdown with boss Alex Ferguson.
If, as expected, Ronaldo fails to persuade Fergie to let him go to Real, it will spell the end of Madrids efforts to sign the star this summer.
Holland schemer Van der Vaart plays in the same position as Ronaldo and will cost around 10million pounds.
Madrid directors expect to seal a deal this weekend when they meet Hamburgs chiefs in London after Arsenals Emirates Cup.
Real have not made a single signing and, crucially, the players already at the Bernabeu are becoming disgruntled by the constant speculation surrounding Ronaldos potential arrival. (ANI)
