Ready to quit ICL if PCB recalls me to national side: Rana Naved
May 8th, 2009 - 5:39 pm ICT by ANILahore, May 8 (ANI): Pakistan fast bowler Rana Navedul Hasan has said he would severe ties with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) takes some initiative to recall him and other players to the national squad.
Hasan said he wants to play for the country, and that the decision to consider the ICL players for selection in the national team rests with the PCB.
“We are all here to serve our country, if the PCB wants us to,” the Daily Times quoted Hasan, as saying.
Hasan along with Imran Nazir and Abdul Razzaq was named in the list of probables for the World Twenty20 tournament by the PCB, but the board, fearing a potential face-off with the International Cricket Council (ICC), omitted all the three players from the list later.
While the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has offered ‘amnesty’ for the ICL players, the PCB had already clarified that it would be considering return of the players’ only on a case-to-case basis.
According to sources, the PCB is under pressure from different quarters to allow the rebel players to represent Pakistan in international arena to give a fitting reply to the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), which is being blamed to have played a major role in influencing the ICC to snatch the hosting rights of the 2011 World Cup from Pakistan.
