New Delhi, July 3 (IANS) Young Rashid Khan, the 2007 Faldo Asian Junior series champion, carded a one-over 73 to take a five-shot lead at the end of the third round in the Lalit Suri Northern India Junior/Sub-Junior golf championship at the Army Golf Course here Thursday. The Delhi boy has a 54-hole total of 3-under 213. Chikkarangappa, leading in Category B, was second overall at 218 while Kanishk Madan was third at 219. Vicky Sharma was fourth at 220.
Rashid had a steady beginning making three pars before he committed the first mistake of the day on the par-3 fourth hole. Once again the same pattern followed where he made three consecutive pars before making a double bogey on the par-5 eighth hole. Taking the turn at 3-under, Rashid made amends with a birdie on the par-4 10th and the par-5 12th.
The 17-year-old flirted with birdies on at least four holes else the lead would have swelled to much more.
Chikkarangappa made three birdies on the 7th, 12th and 17th while making bogeys on the 10th, 11th, 13th, 15th, and 18th after an almost blemish-free front nine excepting a double bogey on the eighth.
