rasheedThe recent buzz about the American basket ball player Rasheed Wallace is that he has decided to sign a contract with the Boston Celtics for the coming season. The contract will be worth a handsome amount of $12 Million, for two years. Rasheed is presently a free agent.

Speculations were going on for quite a long time regarding which team he will choose to join in the upcoming season. Wallace’s agent, Bill Strickland on Sunday had told the Boston Herald as well as the Boston Globe that the NBA player has told to call off all meetings that he was scheduling with three other teams namely Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks. It had been assumed earlier that Wallace may be joining the Orlando Magic since another veteran player Vincent Carter was openly campaigning for him, so that he signed a contract with the Orlando Magic (who were quite interested in the star).

The Boston team already has veteran stalwarts of basketball like Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. With the entry of Rasheed Wallace, the team is expected to stand out in the forthcoming season. Sources revealed that the Boston Celtics had sent a group to convince Wallace and with his wife; and they managed to woo him to join the team.

In 32 minutes per game Wallace has an average of 12 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists while playing for the Detroit Pistons whom he had joined in 2004. He had led the team to the NBA championship win the same year.
