New York, Mar 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington has apologized that he made a mistake over his cocaine usage. He said that he made a terrible mistake, when he failed a Major League Basketball drug test in the last season, as he had imbibed cocaine. He acknowledged his mistake publicly on Wednesday. His public acknowledgment of his terrible mistake came eight months, after he told that Rangers President Nolan Ryan that he could resign from his post over his mistake. But the Rangers President Nolan was generous, and he turned down Washington’s offer to resign.

“I made a huge mistake and it almost caused me to lose everything I have worked for all of my life,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said at a news conference Wednesday. “I am not here to make excuses. There are none.” He also added that he had used cocaine only once in his life, and called the experience as ‘stupid and shameful’. He also said that before the drug test, he had himself confessed his dirty deed to the commissioner’s office as well as to the Ranger officials too.

“He came forward and said he would resign,” Rangers President Ryan said. “He understood the consequences. We had a lot of discussions and a lot of soul-searching on it. He stood up to it. We felt like he was sincere and forthright,” he said. “We are very disappointed by this. We are upset we were put in this position.” Ron Washington had also admitted about the shameful act to his players, before the drug results came in.
