edsallJan 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Maryland Terrapins’ search for the head coach finally came to an end on Sunday. Their search ended with none other than Connecticut Huskies’s head coach Randy Edsall who will be the new face in Maryland replacing Ralph Friedgen. The news of the fresh recruit broke out on Sunday afternoon although nothing has been confirmed officially. The official announcement will take place on Monday. According to sources, a press conference will be taking place at 2pm in the afternoon where Randy Edsall along with Maryland Terrapins athletic director Kevin Anderson will appear.

After firing away their former coach of ten years the Terrapins had enough reasons to choose Randy Edsall. The 52 year old coach had guided the Huskies well and went on to earn conference titles. Randy Edsall is some one who himself grew up as a Maryland Terrapins fan. The coach of twelve years for the Connecticut Huskies is highly famed as a defense specialist and was the key reason behind the emergence of the Huskies as a winning team. Meanwhile Randy Edsall has already been introduced to the players and assistant coaches of his new team at the Gossett Football Team House.

The Terrapins who had begun their search for this post from last month did not reach Randy Edsall at a first shot. There were also other names doing the rounds who were being considered for this post. Maryland officials before making the final selection also had a word with other coaches who are either currently associated with any team or were former coaches. Mike Leach, Rich Rodriguez, Chris Petersen, June Jones, Gus Malzahn to name a few.
