January 6th, 2011 - 9:28 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 6 (IANS) Subramaniam Badrinath’s knock of 175 failed to prop up Tamil Nadu as giant-killer Rajasthan entered the final of the Ranji Trophy after snatching the first innings lead here Thursday. This is the first time that Rajasthan, who ousted defending champions Mumbai in the quarter-finals, have entered the Ranji final since 1973-74. In the title clash, they will play Baroda, who defeated Karnataka in the other semi-final.
On the fourth and last day of their match, Tamil Nadu needed 363 runs to get past Rajasthan’s massive first-innings score of 552, but their batsmen failed to rise to the occasion.
Resuming at 190 for three, Badrinath (381 balls, 20×4) waged a lone battle before the entire side crumbled for 385. Vivek Yadav took four wickets for 85 for Rajasthan.
Rajasthan then made Tamil Nadu follow on but the match ended in a draw after one more over.
