Rain spells doom for India-Victoria tieDecember 22nd, 2007 - 8:29 pm ICT by admin
Melbourne, Dec.22 (ANI): India’s hopes of getting crucial match practice ahead of the Boxing Day Test against Australia evaporated on Saturday after rain prevented a single ball from being bowled on the final day of the warm-up match against Victoria.
The Junction Oval match was declared drawn by umpires Paul Reiffel and John Ward because of a wet field and steady overnight rain.
India ended the match on 133 for four off 48 overs. Opener Rahul Dravid with an unbeaten 38 and middle-order bat Yuvraj Singh on six were at the crease at the end of the match.
Sourav Ganguly top-scored with 59 with nine hits to the fence, while Victoria pace bowler Allan Wise finished with four for 37.
The Indians spent most of the match practicing indoors. (ANI)
