Queensland hopeful of securing Flintoff for KFC Twenty20
August 4th, 2010 - 5:05 pm ICT by ANILondon, Aug 4 (ANI): Queensland Bulls have confirmed they are hopeful of securing England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff for this season’s KFC Twenty20 Big Bash in spite of his latest knee injury.
“Flintoff has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2010 English season, after his comeback attempt with his county, Lancashire, was put on hold,” reports foxsports.com.au.
Queensland Cricket Chief Executive Officer Graham Dixon said the Bulls would still keenly monitor the progress of Flintoff hoping that he is fit to join the team at the end of the year.
“We are that he is continuing his rehabilitation with Lancashire and are acutely aware that this will be his priority for the immediate future. We know that Andrew has been the object of some interest from a number of states, including us, and that he has publicly expressed a desire to play in the Big Bash,” said Dixon.
“But at the moment, he is still working on his recovery. We’re encouraged by the progress of our talks at this point in time, and will continue to keep the lines of communication open with his management team,” he added.
Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds has already committed to join the Bulls.
The 2010-2011 KFC Twenty20 Big Bash will begin on December 30, and every game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports. (ANI)
