ncf_i_barkley_200USC freshman QB Matt Barkley proved a right choice for his coach when the Trojans won by 18-15 over Ohio State at the Galen Center,on Saturday, as 7000 fans shrieked and cheered the teams. There are 2 universal rules that every football coach adheres to, the first: protect the ball, and the second never let a freshman begin at QB. However Matt Berkley is an exception to that rule.

Matt Barkley cruised his team skillfully to an 86-yard winning rush earlier, that had cost Horseshoe heavily. However this time it was not a stomach punching loss that Ohio State got. Albeit there was a revised defense on USC it did not obstruct their victory. Ohio State’s Nathan Williams made a tackle that partly injured Barkley in the 3rd quarter of the match.

If there was someone else to eye on the field, beside the blonde, who is the first freshman to ever start at the USC history, having left Mitch Mustain behind, it was Terrelle Pryor, whose throws in the first half of the match set the tone of the battle. The seasoned player who recovered perfectly from the fumbles of earlier performances at the match tuned in with his team effectively, leading the offense, as he usually does.

Nobody on the team was worried about Barkley’s credibility. During High School, in Mater Dei, Barkley has been named the 2007 football Gatorade National Player of the Year, and been 2007 Gatorade national male athlete of the year, which is indeed a big reputation for a non-senior player. The kind of confidence Barkley showed proves that he is comfortable playing in any position.
