Qadir questions Waqar’s appointment as bowling coach
December 17th, 2009 - 2:59 pm ICT by ANI ( 1 comment )Lahore, Dec.17 (ANI) : Former Pakistan leg-spinner and chief selector Abdul Qadir has criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for appointing former speedster Waqar Younis as the bowling and fielding coach on the team for the series Down Under.
Qadir pointed out that Waqar himself was not a good fielder during his playing days.
More than that, Qadir said coach Intikhab Alam and his deputy Aaquib Javed were bowlers too, so there was no need of bringing Waqar in.
“I would be the first person to welcome any move if Waqar is given a proper posting by the PCB but I don’t agree with the move to appoint him bowling and fielding coach mainly because we already have two coaches with the Pakistan team who were bowlers,” The Daily Times quoted Qadir, as saying.
The legendary spin bowler said he fails to understand the reason behind Waqar’s appointment as the bowling coach.
“Coach Intikhab Alam and assistant coach Aaqib Javed are bowling coaches so what message is the board sending them by bringing in Waqar now into the team?” Qadir questioned. (ANI)

Qadir I have known you since you played for Government College Lahore Please tell me honestly that does Aaqib deserve to be chief coach on the basis of his capabilities He was selected first time in Pakistan team not on the basis of his capabilities but a big push (safarsh) from some people I have known and who was the victim against him my own nephew who still plays cricket in UK at the age of 40 and bowl at a speed of 140K and the most interesting thing that he only runs from 6 to 10 yards Whenever I see my nephew it hurts that such a talent gone wasted I agree Aaqib coached the under 19 Pakistan team that won the world cup but that does not mean that he is capable of coaching international mature cricket He was the member of Pakistan Cricket Team that won the world cup and that is it Check his statistics in cricket and the answer is lying there Cricket has been entered into modern era and teams need a coach or manager who knows the tempo of modern cricket I give you two guess about me I played from Government College and Model Town Club Lahore even though played patrons trophy twice from Lahore B Please be bold to tell the truth and that is the only way to stop Pakistan Test Cricket going down
