Qadir blasts Mohammed Yousuf for contemplating return to international cricket

Karachi, July 20 (ANI) : Former Pakistan chief selector Abdul Qadir has criticised retired captain Mohammed Yousuf for contemplating a come back to international cricket, following calls from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to come out of retirement to bolster the middle-order during the on going Test series in England.

Qadir told a private television channel that the PCB should not consider him at all for the England series.

“When Yousuf decided to quit, I spoke with him, however, he said he took the decision after thorough deliberation, but what he (Yousuf) is doing now? I don’t think PCB should consider him at all and if Yousuf goes to England then I will be the first person to criticise him,” The Daily Times quoted Qadir, as saying.

In an apparent reference to Shahid Afridi’s announcement of retiring from Test cricket and Yousuf’s earlier decision to quit international cricket, the former leg spinner said that players were using retirement as a tool to ‘blackmail’ the PCB.

“Players these days have set a wrong precedent for the next generation and it seems that the announcement of resignation has become a blackmailing tool,” Qadir said. (ANI)
