Punjab government awards Indian kabaddi team Rs.25 lakh
September 27th, 2011 - 10:37 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Sep 27 (IANS) The Punjab government Tuesday announced a reward of Rs.25 lakh for the Indian kabaddi team that won the first Asian men’s circle-style kabbadi tournament in Tabriz, Iran, beating arch-rivals Pakistan.
The announcement was made by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who is in Iran with the team. India crushed Pakistan 53-38 in the finals Tuesday.
The teams were a close 24-22 at half time. However, India scored 29 points in the second half.
Badal gave away gold medals to the Indian team.
Nepal bagged the third spot in the tournament.
