Ludhina, Nov.21 (ANI): The Punjab Premier League (PPL), a twenty-20 cricket tournament at state-level, kicked off with a colourful ceremony here over the weekend.
The first such tournament in the State is based on Indian Premier League (IPL) format.
“Hopefully, we will also be benefited by this. People will watch that in Ludhiana there are players who have calibre to play for India who never got opportunity. If Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does select us we will play cricket somewhere,” said Arjun Singh, a player.
Promoters of the tournament claimed the move would provide a platform to budding cricketers.
“I want that each player of mine plays for Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) and BCCI but unless public watches the player, he will be finished in club cricket,” said Bhupinder Singh, promoter of the Punjab Cricket League.
The tournament will conclude on November 24. (ANI)
