Chennai, Sep 17 (IANS) Cheteshwar Pujara struck a fine century (132) as he anchored Saurashtra innings to 357 for nine in 90 overs on the first day of the three-day final against Tamil Nadu XI in the All-India Buchi Babu Memorial cricket tournament here Wednesday.Sourashtra were sitting pretty at one stage on 301 for three, but lost five wickets in tandem for just 37 runs with off-spinner R. Ashwin picking up three of those in 15 deliveries for figures of 5 for 99 off 34 overs.
Pujara, displaying admirable patience, after surviving a life just after completing his half-century, put on 189 for the fourth wicket with another promising youngster, Ravindra Jadeja who made 84.
Napoleon Einstein, fielding at point, dropped a straightforward catch off paceman Yo Mahesh and the let off proved costly as Pujara went on to play a long innings that lasted all of 325 minutes.
