Puerto Rican boxer shot dead
June 9th, 2011 - 2:35 pm ICT by IANSSan Juan, June 9 (IANS/EFE) A Puerto Rican boxer, who was unbeaten since making his debut in 2009, has been shot dead, police said.
Juan Alberto “El Puma” Gonzalez Vazquez died Wednesday at a hospital in San Juan.
The 22-year-old boxer was shot Tuesday night while riding his motorcycle in the northwest of the Puerto Rican capital.
Gonzalez Vazquez had built up a record of winning 11 straight games since making his debut in 2009.
His last fight was a clash in Las Vegas in March with Jeremy McLaurin. The Puerto Rican boxer had won the bout.
