Pritul Dev, Nirav Mehta win Indo-Bhutan Friendship Rally
March 8th, 2011 - 6:24 pm ICT by IANSThimpu, March 8 (IANS) Pritul Dev (co-driver Nirav Mehta) won the top honours in the Extreme Category in the week-long fourth JK Tyre Indo-Bhutan Friendship Car Rally here Sunday.
In second spot was SK Asgar Ali (Debashish Ghosh) followed by Saptarishi Saha (Indranil Biswas).
Topping the charts in the Adventure category were Sudip Ghosh (Soumen Mondal) ahead of Soumya Jati (Chandan Sen) and Debdutta Mukherjee (Mukesh Thakker).
The rally was organised by Friendship Car Rally Association and was supported by the Indian Embassy of Thimpu and Royal Bhutan Consulate in Bhutan. The theme of the this year’s rally is “Connecting People of India and Bhutan”.
Vicky Chandhok, President, Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India, gave away the prizes while Sanjay Sharma, Head-Motorsports, JK Tyre and Industries Limited, presided.
The rally was flagged off from Guwahati and finished at the historic clock tower in the national capital of Bhutan. The extremely challenging route of pristine foothills and forests crisscrossed by rivers and mountain streams and high Himalayan passes of altitude of up to 13,000 feet gave each competitor a thrilling experience.
