London, Apr.15 (ANI): England Test wicketkeeper Matt Prior, who was brutally axed from the national World Twenty20 squad two weeks ago, has said that he still retains faith in his abilities to make a comeback in the shorter forms of the game.

Prior, who was among the four England Ashes heroes nominated for Wisden’s coveted Five Cricketers of the Year for the 2009-10 season, said getting a Wisden nomination was something every performing individual cricketer hoped for.

The Sussex gloveman, who extended his batting average to 42.12 from 25 caps, has become England’s second fastest wicketkeeper to 1,000 Test runs behind Les Ames.

The Mirror quoted Prior, as saying: “I’m not saying it just to be patronising - it’s one of the best individual accolades a cricketer can receive. Wisden is recognised as cricket’s bible.”,

“When I told my father that I had been chosen as one of their Five Cricketers of the Year, the look on his face was as if I had been knighted or called up into a World XI. It was a priceless moment,” he added. (ANI)
