President receives credentials from seven envoys

New Delhi, Sep 29 (IANS) President Pratibha Patil Wednesday received credentials from seven envoys, including from the Vatican City and the African nations of Mali and Senegal.
At a ceremony here at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which was attended by senior members of the missions, officials of the external affairs ministry and Rashtrapati Bhavan, the seven envoys presented their credentials.
Welcoming them, the president said India seeks to intensify its relations with all countries, in areas where there is scope for mutual co-operation, opportunities exist for trade and investment and for building people-to-people contacts to promote greater understanding.
“The president also said that India’s economy is growing and the government is committed to reach the benefits of growth to all sections of society,” said a statement issued here.
“India is also committed to sharing its experiences with the world as it deals with global challenges such as food security and climate change,” Patil said.
The envoys were Ambassador of Tunisia Mohamed Elies Ben Marzouk, Vatican City Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, Ambassador of Vietnam Nguyen Thanh Tan, Ambassador of Mali Ousmane Tandia, Ambassador of Chile Cristian Barros Melet, Ambassador of Bosnia Sead Avdic and Ambassador of Senegal Amadou Moustapha Diouf.
