Gautam Gambhir Kolkata, Nov 15 (IANS) The Mehendi is still there on both her hands. It was a special moment for Chennai girl Preethi, who got married to young Indian offie Ravichandran Ashwin Sunday, to see her husband claim a wicket at the Eden Gardens here Tuesday.

It was the young spinner’s first Test scalp after he tied the nuptial knot with his childhood friend.

Preethi, sporting a beige top and jeans, was the cynosure of all eyes on the upper tier of the coveted Club House stands at the hallowed ground. From there, she watched Ashwin beat Kraigg Brathwaite with the flight as the ball spun and the bat-pad catch was gracefully accepted by Gautam Gambhir standing close by.

Ashwin’s success triggered celebrations in the galleries, but Preethi was cool as she went on munching some fried chips.

By then, a large number of personnel from the print and electronic media had gathered around her seeking her reaction. But she did not agree.

“Not now, I will talk to you later on,” she said.

An official of the local organisers Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), who was escorting her, said: “We had arranged her seat in a corporate box. But she said she wants to soak in the atmosphere.”
