Prague to host 2015 European athletics indoor championships
May 6th, 2012 - 5:24 pm ICT by IANSSofia (Prague), May 6 (IANS) Prague will host the 33rd European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2005.
“We are very pleased to confirm that Prague will be the hosts of the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2015,” European Athletics President Hansjorg Wirz was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
Istanbul was the only other city to have presented its candidacy beside the Czech Athletics Federation.
Prague hosted the 1967 European Indoor Games, the precursor to the European Athletics Indoor Championships, and the 1978 European Athletics Championships.
Gothenburg in Sweden will host the next European Athletics Indoor Championships on March 1-3, 2013.
