Portland Trail Blazers Sign Wesley Matthews To $34 Million Offer Sheet

cralosPortland, July 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) For the second year in a row, the Portland Trail Blazers are attempting to filch a restricted free-agent from the Utah Jazz. After Jazz forward Paul Millsap last summer, now it seems is the turn of guard Wesley Matthews who has been signed by a $34 million offer sheet by the Portland Blazers which is applicable for a period of five years. According to reports, The 23-year-old player was involved in a meeting with Portland Trail Blazers team officials on Friday which was followed by him signing the offer sheet the next day in Las Vegas.

It has been reported that after receiving the offer, Utah Jazz would have a period of about seven days to take the decision about whether it wants to match the offer and keep Wesley Matthews, who played the last season with the team and averaged 9.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 24.7 minutes. The 23-year-old player started in all the ten playoff games of its team while starting 48 games last season and averaging 13.2 points and 4.4 rebounds in 37.1 minutes each game in the postseason.

While reacting to the offer sheet made by Portland Trail Blazers, Wesley Matthews’ agent Lance Young revealed to the media that the restricted free-agent would play anywhere as he loves to play and wants to register victory. The agent also went on to add that given the fact that Portland Trail Blazers came really hard on Wesley Matthews, he had to consider the offer made by the team. although the Portland Trail Blazers decided to match Paul Millsap, it remains to be seen whether they take the same decision for Wesley Matthews.
