gregPortland, Dec.06, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Portland Trail Blazers player Greg Oden was severely injured during Saturday’s game when his team clashed with Houston Rockets in a much anticipated match. Although, Portland registered a win against Houston by a score of 90-89, the victory did not come without any backlashes as the team’s center fractured his left knee cap during the first quarter of the match.

The 21 year old player who was the top pick of the 2007 NBA Draft, is likely going to miss the rest of the matches in the season as his injury is presumed to be quite serious. The player received injuries following his clash with Houston Rockets player Aaron Brooks, who was rushing towards the basket. After the clash, the Portland center fell holding his knee in pain and was immediately attended by the physicians present at the court. The player was then taken away from the floor in a stretcher, as the large number of fans present at the stadium shouted his name. After an MRI was carried out, Portland spokesperson Cheri Hanson revealed that the player would have to undergo a surgery to recover from the fracture and as a result Greg Oden would not be able to play in rest of the matches.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that the young player has missed out matches because of injuries. Due to a bone chip in his left knee, Greg Oden could not take part in 14 games in the last season. At the same time, the player also remained away from 6 matches after hurting his right knee in the season opener.
