Pole for Ameya, Parth and Dhruv in national karting

Coimbatore, July 12 (IANS) Seasoned campaigner that he is, Ameya Walavalkar from Mumbai snatched the pole position ahead of Rayomand Banajee (Mumbai) among the seniors in the third round of the JK Tyre Rotax Mojo Max Indian Karting Challenge 2008 at the Kari Motor Speedway here Saturday. The qualifying session witnessed intense competition with 30 karters in the fray. Ameya had to stretch himself to hold off Banajee and Kolhapur’s Rounak Patil.

In the junior section, Parth Ghorpade topped the time sheets as did Dhruv Mohite (both from Kolhapur) in the Micro Max class.

The final races are scheduled for Sunday.

Meanwhile, there were few surprises as Harry Sylvester grabbed pole positions in two of the three classes in the Expert category during the qualifying sessions of the second round of the UCAL Rolon National Championship for two-wheelers that was held concurrently.

Sylvester set the fastest timings in the Group D and Group B (both upto 165cc) classes for Experts while R.Deepak took the honours in the Group B (upto 260cc) category.

Also topping the time sheets were Sudhakar Kesavan and Ganesh Prasad in the Intermediate Class, S.Sarath Kumar and S.Vivek Pillai in the Novice section, and K.Umesh Babu in the Moped category.
