PM to stay at Punjab Raj Bhawan, Gilani at the Taj

Chandigarh, March 28 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur will stay overnight at Punjab Raj Bhawan here during their visit to watch the India-Pakistan World Cup semifinal match at Mohali on Wednesday, an official said.
Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, has accepted Manmohan Singh’s invitation to watch the crucial match, will be staying at the Taj Hotel, the official said Monday.
“Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife will stay at Punjab Raj Bhawan along with Punjab governor. Pakistani premier Yousuf Raza Gilani will stay at hotel Taj. His delegation will stay at the UT (union territory) guest house,” a well-placed official in the Chandigarh administration said.
Chandigarh police have also enhanced the security cover all across the city to ensure the smooth visit of the dignitaries.
The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium at Mohali, 10 km from here, where the semifinal will be played, virtually bears a fortress-like look with hundreds of security personnel deployed both inside and outside the stadium. Traffic restrictions have also been imposed near the stadium.
Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi is also expected to witness the match.
