Play and not fight, Gill tells India and Pakistan cricket teamsJune 3rd, 2009 - 6:44 pm ICT by ANI
New Delhi, June 3 (ANI): Union Sports Minister MS Gill on Wednesday said that it is good that India and Pakistan are clashing on a cricket ground today, which is better than fighting with guns and bullets
“It is good that both the countries are playing. They should play and not fight,” said Gill.
India and Pakistan take on each other in a warm up match in Oval in United Kingdom ahead of Twenty20 World Cup, the first of sports encounter between the two countries after the November Mumbai attack.
Both the teams have lost in the warming up match matches. India lost to New Zealand in the first warm up match on Monday while Pakistan lost to South Africa during its warm up match.
The funds collected from Wednesday’s match will be given to affected people in the Sri Lankan team attack incident in Lahore.
Both teams had met in the Twenty20 World Cup final two years back.
On June 6, India will play Bangladesh in its first official match of the tournament. (ANI)
