Jake WestbrookToronto, Aug 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The National League Central-leading St. Louis Cardinals traded outfielder Ryan Ludwick to NL West-leading San Deigo which enabled them to include pitcher Jake Westbrook to their team in a three-team contract. The deal which was finalized on Saturday was declared about three hours prior to the non-waiver trading deadline.

Experts have reiterated that the addition of Jake Westbrook to St. Louis Cardinals might indeed turn out to be fruitful for the team as it has been attempting to boost its rotation for quite some time now. Jeff Suppan was signed on by the team in mid-season but unfortunately the 35-year-old pitcher was not never really able to regain his spectacular form. At the same time, the St. Louis Cardinals are also known to struggle as two of their key players Kyle Lohse and Brad Penny have remained out of the game because of injuries. Meanwhile, the three team deal which involved the St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres as well as the Cleveland Indians saw outfielder Ryan Ludwick being picked up by San Diego while the player is likely to report on Sunday.

While reacting to his trade to the St. Louis Cardinals from the Cleveland Indians, the 32-year-old pitcher expressed his excitement about being able to join a club that is competing for playoff spots and pitch in few of the meaningful ballgames. Moreover, Jake Westbrook also emphasized that he was really looking forward to play in the playoffs while adding that it was one of the prime reasons why any player would be associated with the game.
