Pique tells Real Madrid: Barcelona still is dominant force
April 26th, 2011 - 3:24 pm ICT by ANILondon, Apr 26 (ANI): Barcelona defender Gerard Pique reckons that the Catalan giants are still Spain’s dominant force, and added that Real Madrid’s Copa Del Rey triumph does not signal a power shift in the country.
The La Liga heavyweights meet for the third time in 11 days tomorrow night in the Champions League semi-final first leg at the Bernabeu.
Their first meeting in the league finished 1-1, but Real Madrid beat Barcelona 1-0 in last Wednesday’s cup final.
Barcelona are eight points clear of Madrid at the top of La Liga and are on course to win a third successive title, The Sun reports.
“Losing the final was hard because you know some people were saddened by it,” he said.
“But it is part of the game. Does that show a change in cycle? No. I think the cycles are marked by who wins the league,” Pique added. (ANI)
