Pietersen will have to fight hard for No.3 spot: Trott
September 12th, 2010 - 3:53 pm ICT by ANILondon, Sep 112(ANI): England batsman Jonathan Trott has warned Kevin Pietersen that he would not hand back the No. 3 batting spot without a fight.
Trott has cemented his place in the England ODI squad with successive scores of 94, 110 and 69.
“I’m sure there is nowhere Kevin would rather be than playing cricket for England, and doing very well. But I have the opportunity to bat at three at the moment, and it’s up to me to do the best I can,” News of The World quoted Trott, as saying.”You can’t go out there thinking, ‘I’m only going to play one game, and it doesn’t matter how well I’m going to do’. I’m pretty happy personally with how things have gone in the last few games, although I’m always looking to improve.”"The guys know competition for places is really good. They know that to play for this England team you have to be at the top of your game,” he added.
Trott also played down his Durham bust-up with Pakistan wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal, where the two clashed on field with an angry exchange of words.
“I said a few words, and he was saying a few. The umpires got in the middle of it, and made a mountain out of a molehill really,” Trott said. (ANI)
