Phoenix Mercury Wins Series With Diana Taurasi Scoring 26 Points

dianaOctober 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Phoenix Mercury won over Indiana Fever after Diana Taurasi scored 26 points on Friday’s match. Cappie Pondexter had also made significant contributions in the match and scored 24 points. The Friday game was crucial for both the team and the last score of 3-2 was set by Mercury. They were quite happy after this win as this was their second title after playing three seasons.

As the Friday game was the deciding game of the series, both the team had given maximum effort and become victorious. The players of Indiana Fever gave a tough challenge to the players of Phoenix Mercury. Tammy Sutton-Brown played well in the match and became the highest scorer with 22 points. Tamika Catchings and Jessica Davenport of Indiana Fever also played well. At the end, Catchings had a score of 16 points. Davenport scored 18 points, her career best but could not save her team from losing the game.

Phoenix Mercury held the upper hand all throughout the game. However, results during the first quarter end was not favorable for them. The score at that time read 23-16 and Mercury were behind Fever. Yet, they recovered from this condition within very some moments and led the match.

Diana Taurasi was in excellent form during the game. It would have been difficult for Mercury to win the match without the score of Taurasi. Players were found in exciting mood after they won the match. Robert Sarver, the owner of the team was happy with the performance of the players. He praised Taurasi for her performance in the match. Mr. Sarver said, “She’s got the swagger, the confidence, the skills, the whole thing to be a champion.”
