Jan 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It is a real disappointment that Tiger Woods has not participated in the PGA Tournament of this year for the problems of his personal life. Organizers of the tournament, fellow golfers and the golf fans have felt his absence during the PGA tour as the sport cannot stop for a player. Though Tiger Woods’ absence from a tournament is a great loss but the tournament has not lost its value even in his absence.
Tim Finchem, the commissioner of the PGA Tour stated that they are hopeful about the reincarnation of Tiger Woods’ golf career but that does not have any relation with the value of the sports. He indicated people who want the best athlete to play would not lose their interest in the tournament if the golfers are playing well. Referring to Tiger Woods, he said, “It creates more interest, more focus. But week-in, week-out, the PGA Tour provides value.”
Though Tim Finchem insisted that the PGA Tournament has retained its popularity and have attracted crowd in the absence of Tiger Woods, he never intended to curb the image of the golfer. During the interview, he said that he considers that Tiger Woods has made a good decision by taking a break from the sports and sort out his personal problems.
