Percept signs sponsorship deal with five boxers
March 17th, 2010 - 10:56 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 17 (IANS) In a heartening development for Indian sports, more money is being pumped into Olympic disciplines as sponsorship to individual sportspersons. The latest to benefit are five boxers, who signed a three-year sponsorship deal with leading entertainment media and communications company Percept Ltd here Wednesday.
Beijing Olympics bronze medallist Vijender Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Suranjoy Singh, Jai Bhagwan and Balwinder Beniwal have been roped in by Percept as its “exclusive talents”.
“Percept will be the brand endorsement agent for the boxers,” the company said in a statement.
“Percept will manage them as a talent and brand. The five boxers will be cultivated as highly promising sportsmen who in the future will get India international accolades. They will be made a name to reckon with in Indian boxing,” the company said in a statement Wednesday.
In addition, Percept will draw a strategic roadmap for these boxers by “creating, inculcating and promoting the right confluence for their talent in the sports, brands, entertainment, fashion and other relevant sectors.”
“The boxers will be brand ambassadors for various products and services, image endorsements, professional contracts, publishing and merchandising, reality television, films etc.”
Shailendra Singh, joint managing director, Percept Ltd, hailed the agreement.
“In India, we love action and entertainment. Boxing is both entertainment and action and these stalwarts have showed that our country has abundant boxing talent.”
“Our aim will be transforming these bixers as brands,” he said.
Asian Champion Suranjoy Singh said: “I am confident that Percept will give right direction to my talent.”
