Lahore, July 18 (ANI): Ever heard of a fitness test for a fast bowler where he passes it without even bowling a single delivery; well this is just what the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has managed to do.
Interim chief selector Wasim Bari conducted a fitness test for controversial pacer Shoaib Akhtar where he did not bowl even a single delivery.
Akhtar was only asked to do some fielding and running exercises for barely 20 minutes.
Later, talking to mediapersons, Bari said Akhtar’s name would be considered for the probables list of the Champions Trophy.
When enquired as to why Akhtar did not bowl during the test, Bari said he himself had asked the pacer not to bowl.
Bari, however, refused to disclose the reason behind it.
Bari would be leaving for Sri Lanka soon to discuss the Champions Trophy probables with the team management and captain Younis Khan.
Akhtar had skipped fitness tests conducted earlier citing his mother’s ill health, but apparently decided to appear for the test on Friday, fearing that his name will not be considered without a physical fitness test, The Dawn reports. (ANI)
